Description
Having just won the 2024 Photo Contest, North and Central America, Singles of World Press Photo, Charles-Frédérick Ouellet presents his new book : To Winter There
To Winter There is a visual narrative inspired by the expeditions of Louis Jolliet (1645-1700) across the North American continent, a territory he explored throughout his life until his disappearance at sea. Nearly three hundred years later, in the absence of his lost journals, Charles-Frédérick Ouellet set out to follow in the footsteps of this forgotten figure along the rivers that penetrate inland. His photographs reveal two territories pointing in opposite directions: one in the southern United States, toward the mouth of the Mississippi, and the other in northern Quebec, where the Labrador Sea dominates the landscape.
