This current production Summicron standard 50mm is still the benchmark of Leica lenses. The customer recently decided to upgrade to a Summilux so we took his Summicron in trade. This lens comes with original box and all contents as well as a RARE E. Leitz U.S.A. filter.
The lens is in excellent working condition, some minor marks and signs of use on the aperture and focus knurling. Optical condition is pristine. The focus throw is almost perfectly smooth, the aperture ring is firm, clicky and even. This lens is of-course coded!
With its tried and true optical design, the Leica Summicron-M 50mm f/2 provides the finest picture quality extending all the way to the extreme corners of the image field, even wide open. It also exhibits outstanding contrast at all apertures and at close distances. Stopping down to f/2.8 or f/4 brings only a minimal increase in contrast.
Distortion is extremely low and practically invisible. Its balanced design makes this ideal standard lens an outstanding choice. For image quality, speed, size, weight and price, the Summicron-M 50mm f/2 represents an unbeatable combination of excellence and value.
