Everything is always a matter of light. When I observe Ned's photos, they make me think that all creativity is also a quest for light.
It is humanity’s great duel since the dawn of time: the battle to overcome darkness. His photos reveal the unspoken truths of his subjects because he knows how to pierce through their shields with his eye and sensitivity. It’s his heart that clicks when his finger presses the shutter. It takes something special to share what he brings back from his urban journeys and everything he extracts from a dimension that usually eludes us.
Creating requires a bit of levitation; allowing oneself to be carried wherever the winds lead.
Ned does not resist. I love what he conveys—or rather, I love the stories I create for myself when I look at his work, because he never places himself before the images he captures. He leaves all the space for me.
His work and mine have brought us together on the same path; perhaps it’s because our creative processes are so similar? Music and imagery share the same home. The most curious thing is that, over time, we realized we were neighbors in the city, too. When I stretch my neck, I can see his house. In the grand album of the universe, this is insignificant—but not in the small photo booth of friendship.
