Developed for creators seeking next-generation versatility and artistic expression, this zoom telephoto lens is the world's first¹ to feature a maximum focal length of 150 mm and an F2 aperture. The deep bokeh combines with telephoto compression for creative portraits, and the large aperture is ideal for indoor events. Adding to this is an internal zoom mechanism housed in an agile lens that weighs only 1,340 g (47.3 oz., without the tripod mount).

Innovative optical design and construction deliver unmatched performance. Two precision XA (extreme aspherical) elements in a cutting-edge optical layout, with carefully controlled aberration, ensure breathtaking resolution at all apertures—even wide open at F2. Four high-thrust extreme dynamic linear motors drive the focus group for fast, accurate, and silent autofocus, maximizing the autofocus performance of modern camera bodies. Tracking is effortless, even during zooming, with the α9 III’s 120 fps burst shooting speed. This is the ideal lens for professionals whose job is to capture the decisive moment.
Advanced expression and functionality for video
Focus breathing is effectively suppressed for smooth video capture, and the linear response manual focus feature enables precise control for maximum sharpness and resolution. Focus transitions and zoom effects can be used alongside the F2 depth of field to guide the viewer’s eye naturally. Focusing during high frame rate recording, such as 4K 120p or FHD 240p, is easy, and the system operates with minimal vibration and noise.
Pro-level control and reliability
User experience is enhanced with an aperture ring featuring on/off switch and lock, three customizable focus hold buttons, and a DMF switch to temporarily switch to manual focus during AF use. Though it's a relatively large lens, there's ample clearance for the camera grip. The detachable tripod foot includes both 1/4” and 3/8” screw holes, and the dust- and moisture-resistant design ensures optimal reliability.
